Dr Peggy Qi Zhang joins the Sydney Quantum Academy Experts network

The Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA) is pleased to welcome Dr Peggy Qi Zhang to the SQA Experts network.

Dr Zhang is a Lecturer in the School of Engineering at Macquarie University.

Her research focuses on quantum materials, including ferroelectric and multiferroic materials, and the development of functional oxide thin films for next-generation electronics.

Using advanced fabrication, nanofabrication and microscopy techniques, she designs and characterises materials at the nanoscale to understand and engineer their unique properties.

Her work explores how nanoscale features such as domains, domain walls and topological structures, can be harnessed to develop energy-efficient material platforms for future low-energy electronic devices.

Dr Zhang completed her Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology before completing her PhD in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at UNSW Sydney.

Prior to joining Macquarie University, Dr Zhang held research and teaching positions at UNSW Sydney and CSIRO. She has led and contributed to interdisciplinary research projects and was awarded the Women-in-FLEET Fellowship by the ARC Centre of Excellence in Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies in 2019.

Her research has been published in leading journals, including Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials and Advanced Functional Materials, and is supported through national and international collaborations.
