SQA alumna Holly Stemp wins the 2025 Malcolm Chaikin Prize for Research Excellence in Engineering at UNSW

Holly follows in the footsteps of fellow SQA alumnus Will Gilbert, who won the prize in 2024.

Holly’s PhD thesis, “Entangling electrons and nuclei in a four-qubit, two-atom device in silicon”, marks a significant step forward in the development of quantum computers.

Now a Postdoctoral Associate with the Engineering Quantum Systems (EQuS) group at MIT, Holly is working on coupling distant quantum dot spin qubits using a superconducting qubit coupler.

Holly reflects: "It was a privilege to work with such an incredible team, and I am especially grateful to my supervisor, Andrea Morello, for being an inspiring mentor who shaped the scientist I am today."
