Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA) develops and supports research excellence in the fields related to quantum science and technology. We aim to create a vibrant and diverse local quantum research community. We are delighted to offer the following funding opportunities for researchers, at all levels of their careers, in support of this vision.
All programs are funded by Sydney Quantum Academy, an unincorporated joint venture in partnership between the New South Wales Government and of The University of Sydney, UNSW Sydney, University of Technology Sydney, and Macquarie University – generously supported by the New South Wales Government through its Office of the Chief Scientist and Engineer.
SQA PhD Scholarships
The SQA Scholarships program fosters quantum research by recognising and encouraging excellence amongst postgraduate candidates intending to undertake their research training in fields related to quantum science and technology. SQA Scholarships provide successful candidates with a unique opportunity to work with researchers across Sydney’s foremost universities who are leading the way in the quantum field and who have strong industry linkages.
Primary PhD Scholarship is available for national and international students with an outstanding track record of academic achievement and research potential to pursue full time PhD studies at one of our founding universities related to the field of quantum science and technology. Read More

Postdoctoral Research Fellowships
Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are awarded to outstanding early career researchers who wish to contribute to and enhance research and innovation in the field of quantum science and technology at one of SQA’s partner universities. Read More
