Quantum. What’s that?

Quantum is the science of how nature behaves at the smallest scales — atoms, electrons, and photons- where the rules are completely different from everyday physics. At this level, particles can exist in multiple states at once and can become linked so that a change in one affects another instantly.

These behaviours underpin a new wave of quantum technologies that unlock capabilities not possible with classical physics — from solving complex optimisation problems to detecting tiny changes in the environment and enabling inherently secure communication.

These technologies will reshape industries from cybersecurity to pharmaceuticals, logistics, finance and advanced manufacturing.

Turns out… it’s been quietly reshaping our world for more than a century.

Here are the moments that made quantum... well quantum.
